For the past 5 years, I’ve been the principal investigator (PI) on multiple supercomputing allocations, totalling over 15 million CPU hours of compute time. This means I’ve written project scoping proposals and renewal proposals, demonstrating the usefulness of our team’s science to broader National Science Foundation initiatives and also demonstrating the efficiency (for instance, as the number of processors or the simulation memory requirements vary) of our modified C++ and Fortran codes on national supercomputers similar to the Exascale Frontier cluster shown below.
Since this process is where research begins, I wanted to share the scaling and timing portion of my most recent proposal below. When I wrote my first proposal in 2018, I struggled to find similar examples online, so I hope this blog post benefits someone out there. If you find this useful, please share it widely, and reach out if you have questions!
Next up will be a blog post focused on the scientific results from this project!
